Community Projects, 2025-2026 academic year

The Community Project is an essential activity at the Luong Van Can Foundation (LVCF). Participating in this program offers students the opportunity to develop their teamwork, project planning, organization and implementation skills; as well as gain practical insights into communities in need of support and issues that need to be addressed in Vietnam. LVCF hopes to spread the spirit of giving and contribute to the development of the community and society, even when the students themselves may still be facing personal challenges.  

For the 2025-2026 academic year, the Community Project program received a diverse range of ideas and projects from Luong Van Can Foundation students, which are divided into two main categories:  

• Projects led by an individual or a group of LVCF students. 
• Support activities at social organizations where students serve as volunteers or collaborators. 

Throughout the program, the Luong Van Can Foundation provides guidance and support to the teams in bringing their ideas to life and overcoming practical challenges they may encounter. 

After 3 months of implementation, the outstanding projects are those that have successfully met the evaluation criteria set by the program, including:  

For projects led by an individual or group of Foundation students: 

• Achieve the goals set by the group or individual.
• Implement improvements or new methods to enhance operational and implementation efficiency.
• Contribute to solving a specific issue in the community. . 

For students supporting activities at social organizations: 

• Complete the tasks assigned by the host organization.
• Receive feedback from the instructor or supervisor during their participation at the organization.

CAREER ORIENTATION PROJECT FOR LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

PROJECT TEAM MEMBERS

PROJECT SUMMARY 

Based on surveys conducted at shelters, the project team found that many lower secondary school students lacked information about educational pathways and options after completing lower secondary school. To address this, the project was implemented to provide academic and career guidance , helping students better understand themselves and choose a suitable path before the important upper-secondary school entrance exam.

After three months of implementation, over 40 students at SOS Children’s Village Go Vap and Mai Tam Shelter received career guidance handbooks and participated in sharing sessions and experiential activities, thereby gaining a clearer understanding of the education options available to them at the next stage.

SUNSHINE IN YOU

PROJECT TEAM MEMBERS

PROJECT SUMMARY 

The “Sunshine In You” project was created to address the shortage of regular teaching staff at the Can Tho Street Children’s Club and the Smile Club. The project’s main goal is to teach literacy, reading, and basic math, helping children who have never been to school learn to read and write and catch up with the school curriculum.

After about three months of implementation, the project team organized 38 regular teaching sessions and 4 recreational activities for children.

PROJECT SUMMARY 

In some localities, many families of martyrs have been unable to preserve clear portraits of their relatives due to difficult historical conditions, loss over time, or damage. Restoring photos from old materials involves significant financial and technical barriers.

Although the implementation plan in some localities had to be adjusted due to changes from the coordinating partner, the project still successfully restored and presented 3 portraits of martyrs to their relatives in Binh Chanh commune.

YOUTH CONCERT

PROJECT SUMMARY 

The project was established to create an environment for students at Phan Liem High School (Ben Tre province) to develop their artistic talents and relieve academic pressure. At the same time, the project provides an opportunity for the Organizing Committee’s members to practice their event-organization skills and raise scholarship funds to support disadvantaged students. 

In 2026, the project successfully organized an art event with over 200 participating students while raising funds to support scholarships for disadvantaged students and the program’s operating costs.

VIETNAMESE SIGN LANGUAGE KEYPOINT DATASET

PROJECT SUMMARY 

The project aims to build a motion dataset for Vietnamese Sign Language to support the research and development of artificial intelligence applications that support the people with hearing impairments. The project team collects and processes data from sign language gestures, helping lay the foundation for the development of sign language recognition technologies in the future. 

After 3 months of implementation, the team converted 994 Vietnamese vocabulary words into keypoint data and completed the dataset in two formats: Raw Keypoint data and Preprocessed Keypoint data. 

INTERNSHIP AT BREAST CANCER NETWORK VIETNAM

PROJECT SUMMARY 

Established in 2013, Breast Cancer Network Vietnam (BCNV) provides information, connects people with resources, and serves as a safe space where anyone concerned about or battling breast cancer can share their experiences.

Interns assist BCNV with administration and operations, including receiving donated hair, processing data, guiding hair donors, preparing parcels, and supporting community programs.

PROJECT SUMMARY 

The “A Million Green Trees Dream” project was founded by Sung A Cai, an alumnus of the Luong Van Can Foundation, to promote environmental protection, improve residents’ livelihoods, and raise awareness of afforestation among young people .

During the internship, students participate in communication activities, helping spread messages about environmental protection and the project’s afforestation programs.

INTERNSHIP AT MPVI

PROJECT SUMMARY 

The MPVI project was established to help people with visual impairments and their children study more effectively through tutoring, academic mentoring, and converting learning materials into suitable formats. 

During the internship, students participate in converting learning materials, helping coordinate classes, and supporting visually impaired students throughout their learning process.
