Luong Van Can Foundation Scholar (2016 - 2018); Postdoctoral researcher at Harvard Medical School 2026
The Luong Van Can Foundation planted in me the seeds to pursue my passions and aspire to greater ambitions. That spirit has accompanied me throughout my academic journey abroad — from completing my PhD to continuing forward as a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard Medical School. The unwavering support and encouragement from the Foundation’s Management Board and alumni community have been a constant source of motivation and inspiration along my path of growth.
Luong Van Can Foundation Scholar (2017 - 2020); A PhD in Chemistry in South Korea
If I were to choose one phrase to describe the Luong Van Can Foundation, it would be “timely rain”. It is the phrase the people of Yuncheng used in Water Margin to affectionately refer to Song Jiang — the benefactor who always appeared at the right moment, offering help selflessly whenever it was needed.
To me, the Luong Van Can Foundation has always embodied that very image: generous, altruistic, abundant, and timely like a nourishing rain. Those rains sustained and nurtured me throughout my university years — not only through financial support, but, more importantly, through the wisdom, ethics, and conscience they imparted. That became the foundation of values and strength that has enabled me to move forward with confidence to where I am today.
Luong Van Can Foundation Scholar (2016 - 2025); a Doctor in Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine
I am currently a specialist physician in Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine, and I recently graduated from the residency program at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City in 2025. I was fortunate to receive a scholarship from the Luong Van Can Foundation for nine consecutive years, from my first year of university through the completion of my postgraduate training. Beyond financial support, the Foundation provided me with opportunities to improve my English, participate in professional skills training, and connect with experienced mentors through the Mentorship Program. I especially remember the classes on financial management and meditation, which helped me better manage both my personal finances and emotional well-being. Through community projects, I also developed a stronger sense of compassion, social responsibility, and the spirit of “paying it forward.” Becoming a member of the Luong Van Can Foundation family has been one of the most meaningful milestones in my life — truly a life-changing opportunity for which I will always be deeply grateful.
Luong Van Can Foundation Scholar 2017; Mentor at Luong Van Can Foundation
More than 10 years ago, I was among the first generation of students to receive a scholarship from the Luong Van Can Foundation. Yet what the Foundation gave me went far beyond financial support. It instilled in me values that have stayed with me throughout my journey of growth: a spirit of service, kindness, aspiration, and a sense of responsibility toward the community. The Foundation did not simply provide opportunities; it planted in each student the seeds of character and ambition — seeds that quietly grew over time and shaped the way we live, work, and choose our paths in life.
Now, more than a decade later, returning to the Mentorship Program as a mentor myself, I appreciate even more deeply the meaning of that journey. It is not only an expression of gratitude, but also a desire to continue passing forward the values the Foundation once nurtured in me, so that those who once received may one day become those who give.
Luong Van Can Foundation Scholar (2016 - 2020); Founder IELTS YOSE
Through participating in and working alongside senior mentors, friends, and peers in Student Club activities and community projects, I gradually came to understand both myself and life more deeply. These experiences helped me develop essential skills in communication, teamwork, and leadership, while also giving me my first lessons in organizing activities, coordinating teams, and connecting people.
Each experience shaped the way I learn, adapt, and grow. Community projects, in particular, taught me to observe carefully, listen attentively, and better understand the real needs of others. Through them, I developed a stronger sense of social responsibility and a deeper belief that young people — even through small actions — can still contribute to meaningful and sustainable change within their communities.
Luong Van Can Foundation Scholar (2018 - 2022); Professional Master of Ceremonies
I never imagined I could come this far without the opportunity to grow alongside the Luong Van Can Foundation. What began as a small dream of opening a grocery store in Cao Bang gradually grew into greater aspirations — earning scholarships to study in the UK and the US, communicating confidently in English, and inspiring younger students. Through training sessions on CV writing and public speaking, along with the dedicated guidance of my mentors, I also had opportunities to appear on VTV and VTC programs and participate in activities with various embassies. More importantly, these experiences helped me begin to believe in myself, expand my sense of what was possible, and dare to pursue opportunities I once never thought within my reach.
Luong Van Can Foundation Scholar (2021 - 2025); Employee in Singapore
When people think about scholarships, they often think first of financial support. But what the Luong Van Can Foundation goes far beyond that. It is a community where different generations are always willing to share, support, and uplift one another. Through the Mentorship Program, I had the opportunity to connect directly with senior professionals in the finance industry — people whom, given their positions and experiences, I believe I would hardly have had the chance to meet, shake hands with, or even speak to if I had not been part of the LVCF community.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the wonderful mentors who accompanied me throughout my mentorship journey and during the very first steps of my career. And above all, I am deeply thankful to LVCF for giving me such a valuable opportunity.
