60 STUDENTS FROM 30 VIETNAM UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES AWARDED LUONG VAN CAN SCHOLARSHIP 

On 12 September 2015, 60 students from 30 universities and colleges were awarded Luong Van Can Scholarships (academic year 2015 – 2016). They are talented students with disadvantaged backgrounds, are handicapped or belong to ethnic minorities among 390 applicants from 49 cities and provinces in nationwide. The scholarships cover full or partial tuition fees and living expenses for the recipients, totally equivalent to 639 million VND.

At the Scholarship Award Ceremony, the recipients had an opportunity to present their future desires and dreams. Some stated to become entrepreneurs, successful businesspersons, university lecturers, translators or presidents of charity centers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, Vice President of Department of Education and Training HCMC highly appreciated the LVCF efforts to educate highly qualified professionals. He also suggested the Fund to pay more attention to support the students until they graduated and provided chances for them to start-up.

The day before, the students attended a training camp to be equipped soft skills, as well as research and training methods following Master Luong Van Can’s spirit. LVCF is planning to organize periodic workshops and seminars in order to help enhance the scholarship recipients’ capacity and skills. The selection process was run by LVCF Selection Committee who were teachers and businessmen passionate in education, led by Dr. Nguyen Duc Nghia, Permanent Vice President of the Association of Vietnam’s Universities and Colleges, Vice President of Vietnam National University in HCMC.

LVCF was established on 12 September 2014 and was officially launched on 10 April 2015 aiming to educate highly skilled professionals beneficial for Vietnam’s development by searching for sponsorships within the country and overseas.

On this occasion, LVCF announced to recruit applications for 6 scholarships to study at international universities in 2016, including 2 PhD courses, 3 master courses in Australia and 1 MBA at RMIT Vietnam.
